4 High-Fat Foods that are Healthy to Eat

Many of us must have quit eating all the high fat foods to lose weight or to improve health. But research has found that eating more foods rich in healthy fats have protective effects on health. These fats can help you absorb a host of vitamins, it can fill you up so you eat less and most of all it tastes good.

There are different forms of fats and some are healthy while some are not. Unsaturated fats are considered as heart healthy that are found in plants like nuts, seeds, vegetable oils and sea food. Saturated fats are found in animal foods like meat and butter. Usually it is considered unhealthy for the heart, but research says otherwise. There are a few sources that are actually good for the body. Trans fat are found in fried foods, baked goods and processed snack foods which are completely unhealthy for the heart.

2) Coconut Oil

Since its calories mostly come from saturated fats, coconut oil is deemed unhealthy. But the lauric acid in coconut oil is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It also contains medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) that are metabolized differently. MCTs move straight from the liver to the digestive tract and are used as a quick source of energy rather than getting stored.

3) Dark chocolate

It is found that dark chocolate is a source of healthy fats which actually protects the heart. Research has reported that when you eat dark chocolate, good gut microbes like lactic acid bacteria feast on it and they grow and ferment it which in turn produces anti-inflammatory compounds that protect your cardiovascular health.

4) Cheese

Refrain from highly processed and sodium packed cheese products, they are regarded as a dietary villain. But there are good cheese products that are healthy to eat. In fact, it is found that people who regularly eat cheese have lower risk of high LDL cholesterol and heart disease. Cheese which is aged like the parmesan are a good source of probiotics which aid healthy digestion and weight.
